Reasons to smile: sparkling mouth products

You might find yourself experiencing an overwhelming desire to smile after you brush with these gloriously refreshing tooth powders and toothy tabs, not to mention swish with delectably flavoursome solid mouthwashes. Before you even taste them, here are plenty of reasons to start grinning...

S o, you’re off adventuring? Whether it’s brushing up on your oral hygiene after lunch at work or circumnavigating the globe in a kayak, the products in this new mouth range are handy, easy solutions. Before you go, simply slip them in your bag. If that bag is your hand luggage, great news! You can go global without worrying about sky-high liquid restrictions.

M ess, what mess? Contortionist-style moves to squeeze the last drop of toothpaste out will seem like a forgotten memory. You can see exactly how much you have left in these clear tubes and pots without any sticky situations. As an added benefit, this also means that product isn’t wasted because it’s hiding at the end of a tube.

I ngredients like sodium bicarbonate (you might know it as baking soda) are packed inside to keep mouths happy without the use of fluoride. Sodium bicarbonate is used across the toothy tab range. It is an effective thickening agent and after brushing with it, your saliva becomes a hostile environment for acidic bacteria. Plus it adds a sherberty 'fizz' to your brushing - just what you need to refresh your mouth morning and night.

L andfill sites are filled with billions of toothpaste tubes yearly. Conventional toothpaste is predominantly packaged in plastic-coated, aluminium-lined tubes that are rarely recyclable. In landfill, the plastic components may take up to 450 years to break down. Toothy tabs, tooth powders and solid mouthwash tabs are packaged in recycled and recyclable bottles; you can pop the bottle straight into your home recycling after use and bring the top back to us.

E ach toothy tab and mouthwash tab is ideally sized for one brushing/swish, so it’s super simple to figure out how much to use (without having to guesstimate pea-sized amounts or instructions). For Tooth Powders, just wet your brush and press it into the powder. Voilà!

“I’m convinced, but which toothy tab or powder should I try?”

If you like to stick to the status quo, dip your brush into the water and enjoy fresh, minty Miles of Smiles toothy tabs. The triple blast of English peppermint, organic peppermint and wild mint oils inside are a quick fix for a tingly clean feel and the fiery menthol plant contains powerful, antibacterial qualities to promote healthy mouths.

Want to venture out a little further? Get down and Dirty - but superbly clean - with Dirty toothy tabs. Stimulating, cooling spearmint oil and feel-good neroli combine with cleansing kaolin to keep you feeling fresh on the go, no matter how filthy you get on the outside.

Daredevils, unbuckle your seatbelts. Zesty Limelight toothy tabs are bursting with beneficial ingredients like lime and lemon oils to thoroughly cleanse the mouth and spearmint oil to calm inflammation and add freshness and flavour.

You’re looking for something a little sweeter? Try Tooth Fairy tooth powder. If you want the delightful taste of strawberries and a clean feeling that takes you past the second star to the right and straight on until morning, pH-balancing xylitol (which helps to prevent the accumulation of plaque) and antibacterial lemon oil are the perfect pairing. After all, you can never be too grown up to brush your teeth with sparkles!

There’s a powder or tab for every mood, so open wide and discover the whole range here...

Freshen up with solid mouthwash

And because your oral care doesn't stop with brushing, you can also refresh throughout the day and after brushing with Lush's flavoursome solid mouthwash range. Arriving in a recycled and recyclable bottle (say goodbye to squeezing the last dregs of toothpaste out of your tube), each little tablet dissolves in your mouth with a sip of water to refresh your breath and care for your teeth and gums.

Pair up flavours with your favourite toothy tab or powder variety, or mix and match depending on your mood. Fancy something energising? Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster contains a shot of lemon oil to cleanse the palate and quinine (the flavour component of tonic water) which leaves a refreshing taste in the mouth. Added aniseed gives antiseptic benefits and has a warming, stimulating effect on the mouth, helping to clean the gums and fragrance the breath.

Inspired by the Japanese custom of gargling to maintain health and vitality, Ugai deeply refreshes and quenches dry mouths with antibacterial tea tree and sea salt while green tea adds gentle herbal flavour.

Alternatively, brace yourself with a double shot of peppermint. Supremely minty Crème de Menthe also contains cooling menthol crystals, plaque-fighting xylitol and stevia which suppresses dental bacteria growth to help keep your gums and teeth clean. For long-lasting refreshment, mint's always a winner.

If exclusives make your mouth water, you'll also want to head over to the Lush Labs to try new Brave mouthwash tabs while you can. These spicy solid tabs are made with eugenol (an anaesthetic which is good for toothache), zesty, cleaning orange and cloves - the special ingredient which gives them extra spice and luxury. Cloves were traditionally used in Ancient China to refresh the breath and give courage before courtiers met the emperor, and are still valued nowadays for their anaesthetic and antiseptic qualities on the gums. An added hint of menthol crystals completes that tingly fresh feeling as product inventor Ale explains: "We’ve learned that we can give freshness to the breath without compromising on the flavour. Here you have a tiny bit with gives you that freshness without the mint."

Check out Brave solid mouthwash via the Lush Labs from July 29th 2018, while it's still in stock.

The 'F' Word

You may be used to finding fluoride in your regular toothpaste (and water systems for that matter) but you won't find it in Lush toothy tabs, tooth powders or solid mouthwashes. This is simply to give customers more choice when it comes to finding their perfect dental products. A combination of cleansing ingredients such as sodium bicarbonate, kaolin, sea salt, menthol crystals, peppermint and lemon oils mean these inventive tabs, powders and mouthwashes are effective and fluoride free, when combined with a healthy diet and good oral hygiene (that includes flossing, folks). I'm worried that the "ugai" link on this page doesn't work and (today) I can't find a separate "ugai" product page. This mouthwash is quite quietly brilliant. I use it at least twice a day. Please don't discontinue.

I remember when this product first came out , they are with cardboard box , why is it changed to plastic bottle? They could ended up in oceans when being disposed in paces where waste management system is not well developed. I love this product, please consider providing refill option or simply put them back in cardboard box.

I remember this product first came out with cardboard box few years ago. Why is it changed to plastic bottle? You may think they are recyclable, but not in all places around the world. They could end up in oceans. Please consider providing refill option or simply put them back in cardboard box.

Why can't you put them in a paper bag or cardboard box - I'm trying to avoid buying plastic?

Please sell the tooth powder in a cardboard box instead.

I was wondering, if I want to reduce the waste, is it possible to bring an empty bottle of miles of smiles, and get it refilled without wasting another bottle? Any ideas?

I think that the plastic packaging is a shame. Using plastic that is recyclable is ok but it is not great. Using recycled plastic is great. recycling has to be a business to be sustainable. If no one is buying this material, then what is the point? Not using plastic is better in my books. It takes over 200 years for plastic to decompose. Also, not everyone will put this in the recycling. I am very grateful that Lush exist - it is great that a lot of the products don't have any packaging.

I really want to buy one of the tooth products but I'm stuck between the oral pleasure tabs, the limelight tabs or the tooth fairy powder but I don't know if any of them have fluoride in them which I need in whatever I use. Help.
