Find inspiration in The Record & Book Nook, an oasis of calm at the Lush Summit 2017. Here you can browse books on subjects ranging from fiction to business to poetry, amongst other things. One may have been chosen for its influence on the creation of a bath bomb, another for its business advice, and another for its personal inspiration.
These three English language books, on sale in The Record & Book Nook during the Summit, may pique your curiosity:
The President's Hat by Antoine Laurain
“The best book for describing where an idea comes from in perfumery.”
Dining alone in an elegant Parisian brasserie, accountant Daniel Mercier can hardly believe his eyes when President François Mitterrand sits down to eat at the table next to him. After the presidential party has gone, Daniel discovers that Mitterrand's felt hat has been left behind and decides to keep the hat. As he leaves the restaurant Daniel begins to feel different...
The Snowden Files by Luke Harding
It began with an unsigned email: "I am a senior member of the intelligence community". What followed was the most spectacular intelligence breach ever. The consequences have shaken the leaders of nations worldwide. Edward Snowden, a young computer genius working for America's National Security Agency, blew the whistle on the way this powerful organisation uses new technology to spy on the entire planet. This is the inside story of Snowden's deeds, and the journalists who faced down pressure from the US and UK governments to break a remarkable story.
Award-winning Guardian journalist Luke Harding asks the questions which should concern every citizen of the internet age.
Luke will be discussing his book, and other digital issues, with Jo Glanville, director of English PEN - a founding centre of a global literary network - in the Record & Book Nook from 3-4pm on Wednesday, February 8.
Fingers in The Sparkle Jar by Chris Packham
Chris Packham has become a great friend and ally to Lush in recent years, working closely with us on several campaigns, including the hugely successful Skydancer campaign for hen Harrier conservation. In this memoir, he brings to life his childhood in the 70s with his story of the search for freedom, meaning and acceptance in a world that doesn't understand him.
