Jackie Oates - Lullabies

CD

Songs to sing you to sleep

Bringing together traditional lullabies, sleep songs and songs for children from the English folk cannon and beyond, Lullabies is an inspired collection of beautiful arrangements, unexpected additions, including a little-known Beatles cover, and explorations into a unique form of song.

This soporific selection exploring the folklore of the cradle and its superstitions and customs is gentle album to soothe your soul and comfort the little child in all of us.

Some may say that if a song sends you to sleep if can't be any good at at all - I beg to differ.
The works of Vashti Bunyan, Sybille Baier and Richard Swift being my go-to slumber time soundtracks, this album has the same magical effect, with a hint of Emmy the Great and Disney's Brave.
'When I Was A Lady' being my favourite ditty.
